Orcan Energy’s systems can be deployed anywhere waste heat is generated – for example in engines, industrial processes, or on ships. The company promises that it can make even smaller waste heat sources and lower temperatures usable. Orcan Energy’s customers include cement manufacturers, among others, who could significantly reduce their CO2 emissions this way.

Based on strong growth in recent years, Orcan Energy is now expanding at its location in Kiel. Through this expansion, the company can manufacture its modular systems completely in-house and then deliver them to customers around the world. The site is headed by Managing Director Hinrich Krey, who has led production facilities for many years in the past, including in locomotive manufacturing. In addition to good infrastructure connections, the decision for Kiel is based on the fact that important Orcan Energy partners in the value chain are already located in Schleswig-Holstein, according to the company.

Orcan Energy CEO Andreas Sichert says:

“The decision to expand our in-house production capacity in Kiel reflects our commitment to growth and innovation in Germany. With roots in Munich and global projects, we can drive sustainable transformation around the world from Germany. I look forward to working with colleagues in Kiel to jointly contribute to a profitable and sustainable energy future.”

And Hinrich Krey, Managing Director of Orcan Energy at the Kiel location, adds:

“In Kiel, we have the best possible conditions to produce efficiently and gradually expand capacity. At the same time, we can serve the entire world from our location.”

“With Orcan Energy, we shape the future”

At the Baltic Sea, people are pleased about the Munich company’s decision. For example, Werner Kässens, Managing Director of Kiel Economic Development, explains:

“The utilization of waste heat potential is not only a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions worldwide, but also a prime example of climate-relevant innovation. With Orcan Energy, we are reshaping the future of Kiel’s traditional industrial area. We welcome Orcan’s decision to engage in the competition for new settlements in Kiel. This shows industrial transformation and structural change here directly in economic value creation.”

Kiel’s Lord Mayor Ulf Kämpfer adds:

“We are pleased about this significant investment by Orcan Energy in Kiel. It creates numerous new jobs in the future-oriented field of energy technology. This strengthens the business location and brings great opportunities for suppliers and interesting prospects for skilled workers and talent from the region.”
