Parkdepot develops customized solutions for fully automated parking space management in both unpaid and paid parking areas using image recognition technology powered by artificial intelligence. The core of the solution is the digitalization of the entire parking process, from license plate recognition to billing. Thanks to Parkdepot’s technology, parking discs, traffic wardens, and barrier systems should become obsolete. Additionally, the system enables detailed usage analysis of parking spaces, allowing unused capacity to be identified and offered for rent.

According to its own figures, Parkdepot currently processes over 1 million parking transactions per day. The startup’s customers include grocery retailers, parking garage owners, real estate companies, shopping centers, hotels, and hospitals. After expanding in the DACH region in 2021, the Munich-based company expanded to Poland, Denmark, and Italy this year. With the capital raised, Parkdepot aims to drive international expansion and further product development. The €15 million Series A funding comes from existing investor HenQ as well as Surplus Equity Partners and Armira Growth.

Jakob Bodenmüller, founder and co-CEO of Parkdepot, explains:

“Successfully closing this funding round is an important milestone for us. With Surplus Equity Partners, Armira Growth, and our existing investor HenQ, we have the ideal partners for our next growth phase. We’re delighted by the additional support from our investors and view their commitment as strong evidence of their confidence in our ambitious growth strategy. We’re currently observing a massive trend toward camera-based parking space technology and are convinced that within five to ten years, the majority of all European parking areas will be digitally managed.”

Investors praise Parkdepot for “enormous progress”

Mick Mackaay, partner at HenQ, is pleased about the intensified collaboration:

“Since our initial investment in 2021, the team has made enormous progress in acquiring relevant enterprise customers, expanding into additional countries, and expanding our product portfolio with new solutions for paid parking spaces.”

And Sebastian Lüdke, founding partner and managing director of Surplus Equity Partners, adds:

“With Parkdepot’s solution, multifunctional spaces can be created and activated in valuable inner-city locations that go beyond ‘classic parking.’ Parkdepot will play a leading role in Europe in managing such spaces while creating added value for society at large.”

Yukio Iwamoto, founder and co-CEO of Parkdepot, says:

“The last three years have been marked by unprecedented societal challenges. That we’ve come this far is primarily thanks to our unique team. Beyond investments in international growth and product innovation, the capital raised provides an opportunity to allow employees to benefit today from the increased company value through the buyback of shares. In this way, the funding round also serves as a sign of appreciation for our employees who have supported us so far and who will continue to be instrumental to Parkdepot’s success in the future.”
