The Munich foodtech manufacturer Precision Labs secures an oversubscribed seed financing round of more than four million euros. The startup develops next-generation dairy products under the Precision brand and attracts investors from the venture capital scene, the food industry, and elite sports. Contributors to the round include the VC firm Elemental, entrepreneurs such as Stefan Tewes, Marc-Aurel Boersch, and Mic Weigl, as well as several prominent athletes – including Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry.

Fabio Labriola, co-founder of Precision Labs, says:

“It’s a strong signal that we were able to close our round oversubscribed in this market environment. It shows that investors and consumers are ready to rethink milk – by questioning traditional categories and embracing innovative solutions.”

Precision: innovation focus and technology approach

The startup uses the capital for market development in Germany and Austria, for research and development, and for expanding its own brand. At the center is a product approach that combines high-quality milk protein with plant-based ingredients – without preservatives. The first milk alternative combines taste, creamy texture, and foaming ability with a rethought nutrient profile.

In parallel, the team is working on completely cow-free dairy products. The foundation is a nature-identical milk protein created through precision fermentation – a technology already approved in the US, Israel, and Singapore. Precision expects EU approval by 2027.

Marc-Aurel Boersch, investor and former CEO of Nestlé Germany, emphasizes:

“Precision has the potential to establish a new category in the dairy market. The team combines entrepreneurial experience with a clear vision for healthier and more sustainable nutrition.”

Prominent support from sports

Several top athletes are also participating in the round: İlkay Gündoğan, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich, Malaika Mihambo, Dominic Thiem, and Laura Philipp. Their motivation ranges from sustainable nutrition to seeking functional products for competitive performance.

Long jump Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo explains:

“When I think about my jumps, I want to be as clean and powerful as possible. And the same applies to what I eat and drink. Precision shows that you can rethink milk – with valuable proteins, an improved nutrient profile, and significantly lower environmental impact. For me, that’s nutrition that matches my values.”

Elemental also sees long-term potential. Managing Partner Marc Schmidheiny says:

“We invest in founders who have the courage to rethink markets. Precision Labs strikes a nerve of the times – with a clear focus on health, sustainability, and taste without compromise.”

Precision Labs’ milk alternative is already available in its own online shop and in selected Edeka stores in southern Germany and Hamburg. A nationwide rollout is planned for 2026, as is expansion into Austria. Looking ahead, the startup plans milk-based beverages, yogurt and cheese alternatives, and ultimately products that can be completely free of animal ingredients thanks to precision fermentation.
