Just half a year ago, Proxima Fusion announced the completion of its pre-seed round, in which the deeptech startup was able to raise seven million euros. A group of unicorn founders, family offices, and industry leaders has now invested an additional half million euros in the young company. The 7.5 million euros will flow into the development of the first commercial fusion power plant based on the stellarator concept.
Additionally, according to its own statements, Proxima Fusion has been able to recruit a number of leading scientists for its project in recent months. The new team members come from TU München, the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Lilium, Tesla, and Google, among others.
Francesco Scortino, co-founder and CEO of Proxima Fusion, comments:
“We are determined to make Proxima Fusion a European champion for clean energy. Over the past ten months, we have repeatedly demonstrated the quality of our work.”
And further:
“We are delighted by the unicorn founders, family offices, and industry leaders who have now invested in Proxima, many of them through the Visionaries Tomorrow fund, and who will support us on our journey.”
