Qbound offers an innovative solution for accessing applications, cloud services, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices that is supposed to be more secure and user-friendly than conventional VPN and firewall systems. The startup uses blockchain and a concept called Software Defined Perimeter. CEO and co-founder André Schweizer explained how this works exactly in an interview with Munich Startup:
nnnnnnnn“In the past, walls were built around cities to protect them. To enter a city, city gates existed where only authorized people were granted access. In this analogy, cities stand for organizations and walls stand for firewalls that enable strict separation of internal and external networks. The city gates represent VPN connections that allow access to the internal network. If a fraudster managed to enter the city through false identity, a trojan horse, or a tunnel, they could move around relatively freely and cause trouble throughout the entire city. […] In the ‘real world,’ we have replaced city walls with smart alarm systems on individual houses. We enable exactly this step in the ‘digital world.’ We ensure that only authorized persons and devices can access the right resources at the right time and for the right reasons in a secure manner.”
“Qbound and Trusteq complement each other very well in their service offerings”
nnnnTrusteq has now acquired the startup in order to better combine the strengths of both companies. The management consulting firm with offices in Cologne and Munich has focused its services on IT strategy consulting, data engineering, software development, and cloud engineering in the key industries of financial services and energy. In addition to employees and expertise, Qbound’s zero-trust solution offering also transfers to Trusteq. The companies have not disclosed details about the acquisition terms. André Schweizer says:
nnnnnnnn“On Trusteq’s platform and within its network, we will be able to build up and expand Qbound’s solutions and services even faster and offer even more to our employees and customers.”
Torsten Klein, CEO at Trusteq, elaborates:
nnnnn“Qbound and Trusteq complement each other very well in their service offerings. Additionally, we have comparable corporate cultures, which is very important to us in internal and external collaboration: we want to support customers with a cooperative implementation of digital transformations and deliver excellent results.”
