Under the leadership of State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt, a delegation trip to Romania and the Republic of Moldova will take place from May 14-17, 2025. The aim of the trip is to open up new opportunities for Bavarian companies in an attractive international market. Through the travel program and political support, there are diverse opportunities for networking and exploring relevant markets.
The delegation trip is aimed at CEOs of startups and companies in the Smart Industry sector, particularly mechanical engineering, plant engineering, and digitalization. The business delegation will receive discussion offers and a dialogue forum with important institutions and companies. Additionally, experience exchange and networking with Bavarian companies already based in Romania and Moldova as well as company visits are planned.
Romania as an attractive business location
As an investment location, Romania scores points with its strategically favorable location, above-average economic growth, low labor costs, and a network of attractive industrial zones. Bavarian investors are increasingly transferring higher-value added activities to their Romanian facilities. Romania is an interesting location for nearshoring, software development, and IT services. At the same time, Romania still has catching up to do in areas such as infrastructure development, environmental technology, and energy efficiency. Bavarian business has high expertise in these fields. This offers good business opportunities.
Bilateral trade relations between Bavaria and Romania have been growing continuously for years. With a trade volume of 8.3 billion euros, Romania ranks among the top 15 of Bavaria’s economic partners worldwide. The Free State of Bavaria, in turn, is one of Romania’s most important trading partners and a major investor in the country.

Startups and companies can express their interest in the delegation trip without obligation on the website of Bayern International. Interested parties will then receive an invitation to participate and further information about the trip and registration. The number of participants is limited; depending on industry affiliation and specific concerns, a selection is subject to approval.
Travel costs (flights and accommodation) as well as costs for any individual program must be borne by the participants themselves. Other costs for the shared program are covered by the Free State of Bavaria as part of its foreign trade promotion.
