Ryte from Munich and Semrush from Boston have both established themselves as experts in complementary areas in recent years. The Munich-based company has focused on website optimization from a user experience perspective, with a particular focus on search engine optimization, quality assurance, web performance, sustainability, accessibility, and compliance. At Semrush, everything revolves around the online visibility of companies. The company’s tools cover, among other things, campaigns for search engine optimization, pay-per-click, content, social media, and competitive research, as well as measuring results in online marketing.

Through the acquisition that has now taken place, the two companies are joining forces. It opens up new sales opportunities for Ryte and gives the Munich-based company access to Semrush’s extensive customer base. Semrush, in turn, strengthens its newly introduced Enterprise SEO platform. This unites SEO operations across different teams, industries, and regions.

Ryte aims to expand its global market presence with the help of Semrush

Andy Bruckschlögl, founder of Ryte, explains:

“We are excited to work together with Semrush to realize our vision for the future of website user experience while further strengthening Semrush’s leading Enterprise SEO platform. The collaboration with Semrush enables us to drive innovation, significantly accelerate Ryte’s product development, and strategically expand our global market presence. As an independent company, we would have only been able to achieve these ambitious goals with considerably more time.”

Andreas Bruckschlögl, Marcus Tandler, Niels Dörje, and Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher founded Ryte together in 2012. Until 2017, the company operated under the name Onpage.org. The startup’s total funding amount is around 25 million euros, with the last investment taking place in 2021. At that time, the company raised a total of just over 8.5 million euros in its Series A round across two closings. Ryte’s investors include Senovo, PD ventures, SEK Ventures, Bayern Kapital, and others.

Eugene Levin, President of Semrush, says:

“We warmly welcome all Ryte employees to the Semrush family today and look forward to fully leveraging the diverse opportunities this acquisition brings.”

Bruckschlögl adds:

“Exciting times lie ahead, and I am proud of the entire Ryte team, especially my two co-founders Marcus Tandler and Niels Dörje, as well as our CFO and COO Jens Mittnacht. Through their crucial contributions, they have made this important step toward the future possible.”

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
