Through this investment, Aponia and Sanacorp are expanding their existing partnership. The collaboration between the two companies is also set to grow at an operational level: A newly created interface will enable pharmacies using Sanacorp’s Mea online shop solution to directly integrate the Aponia courier service. For the past year, the startup has been testing the courier service concept together with 30 Sanacorp customers in Munich. This year, the partners expanded the model to other cities.
“For us, the community pharmacy is always at the center”
Frank Hennings, Board Member Trade at Sanacorp, says:
“For us, the community pharmacy is always at the center. Individuality, quality, and medication safety are the guiding principles of Aponia’s concept – which aligns perfectly with our values. For two years now, we have been successfully active on the market together and consistently receive positive feedback from our customers.”
David Heid, CEO and co-founder of Aponia, emphasizes:
“The cooperation with Sanacorp has been very value-creating for us from the start: gaining market access is easier with an established partner at our side. Together with Sanacorp, we are solving the logistics challenges in a digitalized world for the local pharmacy. The fact that we are now deepening this already successful partnership is a logical step for us.”
As in other areas of life, consumers increasingly want to order online from pharmacies and receive fast delivery. The e-prescription will likely accelerate this trend further. For community pharmacies, this means that a service-oriented courier service becomes increasingly important to compete against online mail-order pharmacies. Aponia distinguishes itself from other delivery concepts by operating on behalf of the individual pharmacy.
