As part of this year’s concept phase competition of Science4Life, business concepts in the fields of diagnostics, personalized medicine, and sustainability were awarded. The innovative ideas of the winning startups highlight the great potential that the German startup landscape offers.
Visionary concepts from life sciences and chemistry
The best ten teams from the concept phase of the Science4Life Venture Cup and the five best teams from the Science4Life Energy Cup had the opportunity to further develop their business concepts through individual expert coaching and workshops during the Academy Days. The top five teams from the life sciences and chemistry sectors, as well as the three best teams from the energy sector, were additionally awarded prize money.
The five winning teams of the Science4Life Venture Cup include Epicure from Munich. The team has developed Carbacitabin (CAB), an active ingredient for targeted treatment of blood cancer. CAB is able to overcome the resistance of existing medications and offers significantly better tolerability.
Startups for a sustainable energy future
In the field of energy transition, Science4Life also recognized three promising startups that are making a sustainable contribution with their solutions. Included: Qkera from Garching. The young company aims to revolutionize battery production with ceramic solid-state electrolytes. These new electrolytes are thin, flexible, and highly conductive, which significantly increases battery efficiency and safety.
