As the first company, Invitris receives 250,000 euros from the non-profit organization Incate (Incubator for Antibacterial Therapies in Europe) for phase II funding. With these funds, the Munich biotech company can complete its spin-off from the Chair of Physics of Synthetic Biological Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Invitris CEO Patrick Grossmann comments:

„Without Incate, we would not have been as well prepared for the transition from an academic environment. Being selected as the first team to win phase II confirms our potential to build a successful company.”

As far back as January 2022, the Munich startup received funding approval for Incate phase I. Since then, the team has conducted further key experiments to minimize risk in basic research and opened a new laboratory. Invitris possesses a platform technology for producing synthetic proteins, known as phages, which can be tailored to specific diseases and effectively eliminate multidrug-resistant pathogens.

The next funding milestone is intended to help the biotech company further develop and scale its technology. Hideki Maki, member of the Incate selection committee and senior scientist at a pharmaceutical research laboratory, comments:

„We hope that Invitris will make a significant contribution to bringing phage therapeutics into widespread use.”
