Which startups have the best prospects of successfully completing a funding round soon? We gaze into our crystal ball and present five companies that are ready for investment.
In assessing which startups are ready for investment, we base ourselves on the “Dealroom Signal” of Munich Startup Insights. This evaluates companies according to four categories: “Timing” indicates how much time has passed since the last funding round; “Growth Rate” refers to the startup’s growth rate; “Founding Team” examines the founders and what successes they have already achieved; and “Completeness” refers to the startup’s data within the Insights. Startups can achieve a maximum score of 100 in each of the four categories, as well as in the overall rating. (Photo: cac_tus / stock.adobe.com)
Agile Robots: The Munich-based provider of robotics solutions was founded in 2018 and is a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The robotics startup has independently developed and launched software and hardware products in the robotics sector, including an operating system for coordinating robots and accessories. In a Series C round in autumn 2021, Agile Robots raised 186 million euros, and in November 2023, the Munich-based company also acquired robotics specialist Franka Emika. The Dealroom Signal rates the growth rate of the Munich startup at 95 points, the timing segment at 87 points. Overall, Agile Robots scores 94 points.(Photo: Agile Robots)
Orbem combines imaging technologies with artificial intelligence to tackle complex challenges. With its AI innovation for scanning biological samples, the young company has already launched a solution that contributes to sustainability in the poultry industry. In October 2023, Orbem successfully completed a Series A funding round of 30 million euros. According to the Dealroom Signal, the time for the next round is slowly approaching: Timing is now rated with 100 points. But the founding team (88 points) and growth rate (96 points) also impress and bring the overall rating to 92 points. (Photo: Orbem)
Jolt Energy: With its fast-charging stations, Jolt Energy relies on battery storage to complement existing low-voltage networks in cities. They provide additional energy for charging and enable electricity for up to 100 kilometers of range to be charged in five minutes. The charging stations deliver power of up to 320 kW. In this way, the startup wants to make it possible to build fast-charging infrastructure without having to make major interventions in the power grid. In the coming years, the startup plans to install thousands of fast-charging stations in European and North American cities. The investment of 150 million euros, concluded in May 2023, was an important step toward this goal. Tacto has developed an “operating system for the supply chain”: centralized management of supplier relationships for industrial small and medium enterprises. The AI-based software is intended to enable strategic supplier management, streamlined compliance for ESG regulations, and efficient and sustainable material procurement at optimized terms. This way, companies can not only gain better visibility into their procurement but also build future-proof supply chains. In December 2023, the Munich-based company completed financing of 50 million euros. The Dealroom Signal now awards 100 points in the “Timing” segment. Everything else about the startup seems to be right as well: With 91 points for the founding team and 95 points for growth rate, Tacto achieves an overall rating of 91. (Photo: Tacto)
Lanes & Planes specializes in B2B solutions for business travel in Europe. With an all-in-one approach, the startup handles travel bookings, approvals, and expense management in a digital platform that enables integration with all existing company systems. In October 2023, the startup completed a Series B round of 33 million euros (35 million dollars). The Dealroom Signal sees the next round approaching: Timing is estimated at 100 points, the growth rate of Lanes & Planes is rated at 94 points, the overall score is 90. (Photo: Lanes & Planes)
