Investment
In assessing which startups are ready for investment, we orient ourselves towards the “Dealroom Signal” from Munich Startup Insights. This evaluates companies based on four categories: “Timing” indicates how much time has passed since the last funding round; “Growth Rate” refers to the startup’s growth rate; “Founding Team” examines the founders and what successes they have already achieved; and “Completeness” finally refers to the data available for the startup within Insights. Startups can achieve a maximum score of 100 in all four categories, as well as in the overall rating. (Image: Rawpixel / Freepik)
Robco
Robco specializes in developing flexibly adaptable robot hardware kits for different use cases in mid-sized manufacturing – such as machine loading and unloading or palletizing. The Munich startup aims to enable small and medium-sized manufacturing companies to easily operate automated robots. The robots are configured and operated using the company’s own cloud software platform for each specific application. With the software kit from the Munich-based company, industrial robots can be programmed easily and efficiently. With this, the founders Roman Hölzl, Paul Maroldt and Constantin Dresel secured a Series B funding of 39 million euros at the beginning of this year. The timing for the next round is therefore not yet perfect – the Dealroom Signal only awards 38 points – but the founding team (91 points) and growth rate (90 points) are convincing. The overall score is 90. (Image: Robco)
Avelios Medical
The picture looks different for Avelios Medical: 100 points in the Timing segment is a clear signal, with the overall score coming in at 87. The startup of three founders Sebastian Krammer, Christian Albrecht and Nicolas Jakob digitalizes workflows in hospitals and enables data-driven patient care. For this purpose, the startup founded in 2020 has developed a modular software platform. The individual modules, for example for the outpatient clinic or individual departments, digitalize workflows and enable digital documentation of patient care. The last investment for Avelios Medical – a seed round of 2 million euros – was already at the end of 2021.
Luma Vision
Luma Vision’s Verafeye platform uses a proprietary catheter sensor in combination with advanced imaging to deliver high-resolution 360-degree images of the beating heart and surrounding anatomy. This gives physicians access to accurate heart data with seamless image integration and an unprecedented field of view. The platform is compatible with other catheters and systems. The German-Irish startup based in Dublin and Munich promises treatment with improved success rates and simplified surgical procedures. Founders Christoph Hennersperger and Fionn Lahart have convinced investors multiple times with their startup, most recently at the end of 2023, when they closed a funding round of 20 million euros. Mbiomics focuses on developing the first generation of effective bacterial living therapeutics. The company uses its proprietary profiling platform and computational technologies to generate high-resolution precision data for microbiota modulation. The technology is intended to provide better understanding of the interactions between the gut microbiome and the host, which will enable Mbiomics to develop microbial consortia that can be provided to patients as precision therapies. The Munich-based biotech company aims to revolutionize the treatment of a broad spectrum of diseases – from cancer to inflammatory bowel diseases. The last funding for Mbiomics – a Series A of 13 million euros – was in early 2023. The Dealroom Signal stands at 87 points with 100 points in the Timing segment. (Image: Wirestock / Freepik)
Holidu
The holiday rental company Holidu has recently made headlines mainly with new partnerships and acquisitions. The last funding round, however, was some time ago: just over two years ago, the company raised 100 million euros in its Series E, including 25 million euros in venture debt. If Holidu wants to continue its expansion trajectory so far, another investment could soon be on the horizon. The Dealroom Signal therefore scores 100 points in the Timing segment, with a total of 86 points overall. (Image: Holidu)
