The Munich edtech startup Ubimaster provides students and trainees with unlimited access to certified tutoring teachers. Now the American VC Owl Ventures, as lead investor, together with Auxxo Invest and business angels Ina Schlie and Stephanie Bschorr of Encourageventures, is investing €2.5 million in the young company.

Ubimaster’s tutoring platform serves the needs of students and trainees with tailored, fixed-price solutions. This means that users are directly connected with a qualified tutor instead of merely accessing learning plans and explanatory videos. According to the startup, it takes a maximum of two minutes for the right contact person to respond – and this is available seven days a week.

Ubimaster offers its products to both parents and companies. The latter can integrate the service into their employee benefit programs and thus support all children of the workforce, regardless of parental income. Since its founding in 2019, Ubimaster has provided access to better education for more than 10,000 students, with approximately 75 percent improving their grades thanks to the Munich-based company. A multi-stage selection process for tutoring teachers ensures the quality of support and learning content.

“Since our founding in 2019, Ubimaster has made enormous progress. I’m very pleased that with this funding, we can now focus on expanding our team and further developing the platform, helping even more students and trainees, relieving parents, and offering companies an attractive package for their employees,”

says Ubimaster founder Jana Krotsch.

“What drives me is making education accessible fairly and simply for all children regardless of their social background, particularly through collaboration with employers. With Ubimaster, we have developed a unique solution that brings this vision to life. Children are the pillars of our future and deserve equal opportunities to learn and develop their individual abilities – I am convinced: this is the key to long-term success for our society.”

“Ubimaster enables and democratizes access to learning”

Jenny Wang, Principal at Owl Ventures:

“Ubimaster enables and democratizes access to learning outside the classroom with its seamless on-demand tutoring platform, allowing learners to access high-quality tutoring teachers with a single click. The company’s mission absolutely convinced us, and we are incredibly impressed by the passion and commitment of Jana and the founding team. We look forward to supporting them in their continued growth and expansion into new markets.”

Bettine Schmitz from Auxxo Invest adds:

“We encourage female founders like Jana to take the next steps, think big, and support them with capital, expertise, and contacts. When, as in the case of Ubimaster, we can also create social added value and improve opportunities for equal education, then that’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
