The Munich startup Wellabe has developed a mobile “laboratory” with which it offers health check-ups at the workplace and personalized, digital prevention programs. It has now been acquired by Mavie, a leading provider of occupational health promotion in Austria. For Mavie, the acquisition also marks its entry into the German market.

The Munich-based healthtech startup founded in 2018 Wellabe supports around 100 B2B customers in the field of occupational health prevention, according to its own information. To do this, the company offers health check-ups in the workplace using its mobile solution. With personalized, digital prevention programs and mobile health stations, Wellabe provides participants with comprehensive insight into their current health status as well as data-driven recommendations for sustainable lifestyle changes. This is intended to contribute to early identification of risk factors and proactive disease prevention.

Now the corporate group Mavie from Austria has acquired 60 percent of Wellabe. With its Mavie Work offering, the health service provider itself supports companies and their employees on the path to better health. The company’s portfolio includes offerings in the areas of physical and mental health. They range from modern, low-barrier diagnostic services to exercise programs, mental coaching, nutritional counseling, and more. According to its own information, Mavie currently supports around 190 companies with approximately 145,000 employees.

“Wellabe fits perfectly with Mavie Work’s existing portfolio”

Christoph Schnedlitz, Mavie Work managing director, sees great potential in the collaboration between Mavie Work and Wellabe:

“Wellabe fits perfectly with Mavie Work’s existing portfolio and will strengthen the group’s position with new and attractive applications in the field of mobile health analysis. The combination of innovative products, technical expertise, and long-standing professional competence in physical health through Wellabe and expertise in mental health as well as the marketing and financial strength of Mavie offers optimal opportunities for value-creating growth. Together, we will be able to offer our customers even more comprehensive solutions and further expand our position in occupational health promotion.”

And Wellabe founder Michael Theodossiou explains:

“With Mavie, we now have a highly renowned strategic partner with a strong market approach and innovative product line that will massively accelerate our development. Mavie shares our vision, as we both want to help people actively care for their health and lead as healthy a life as possible. With Sana Clinics, we also have another experienced partner at our side. We therefore see ourselves better positioned than ever before to expand our offerings and create new use cases.”

Details of the acquisition were not disclosed. In addition to Mavie, Sana Clinics is also among Wellabe’s owners.
