The cooperation between Wirelane and Paribus offers interested buyers the opportunity to invest in charging stations for electric vehicles. This way, private investors can also contribute to the mobility transition. Within the framework of a tangible asset purchase, it is possible to acquire a charging station with two charging points for €17,000 plus sales tax. The charging station is then leased for eight years. Buyers receive a fixed monthly rent as well as an annual variable, performance-dependent rent. Based on a medium calculation scenario, this results in an annual return of around 7.5 percent during the lease term.
“The mobility transition will only be successful if a sufficiently large charging network is available. Germany has fallen behind in its expansion so far, as around 900,000 charging points are still missing by 2030. This is a major challenge, but also an opportunity to invest private capital at attractive terms”,
says Thomas Böcher, managing director at Paribus and responsible for sales there.
Wirelane CEO Constantin Schwaab adds:
“The simultaneous transportation and energy transition is a task for the ages. Where government measures have fallen short so far, we’re now rolling up our sleeves: interested buyers can now invest in the development of urgently needed electric vehicle charging stations and participate in this growing market. In the process, we’re solving one of the greatest challenges of our time: building systemically critical infrastructure for the complete electrification of transportation.”
With this model, Paribus and Wirelane want to enable interested buyers to participate directly in the mobility transition. The annual variable rent is calculated transparently based on the performance of all Wirelane charging stations. It therefore depends not only on the individual buyer’s charging station and its location, but on a nationwide network.
Wirelane has framework agreements with over 100 cities
Founded in 2016, the startup Wirelane is a provider of charging infrastructure solutions in the public and semi-public charging sector for electric vehicles. Currently, Wirelane records more than 60,000 charging transactions per month with approximately 1,400 charging points, according to its own figures. Additionally, the company develops charging infrastructure in public road spaces at carefully selected locations in cooperation with municipalities. Framework agreements exist with over 100 cities and municipalities, including Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Düsseldorf.
