Infrastructure and expertise: the Life Science Factory as a launchpad for life science startups
Since 2024, there has been a Munich “Life Science Factory”, including fully equipped laboratories. Originally, the area was founded in 2018 by German pharmaceutical company Sartorius with the goal of promoting startups and scientific progress in the life science field. Since 2022, there has been a location in Göttingen. Startups housed in the Life Science Factory receive industry insights and founding support as well as access to valuable contacts and tailored investor matching. Well-known partners include Sartorius as well as companies such as Die Techniker, KWS Saat, Taylor Wessing, and Promega. Martin Strehle, Community Manager in Munich, answered our questions.

Smartaxxess: Founding and financing with digital support
The Munich-based startup Smartaxxess offers founders a platform where they can digitally and centrally address topics such as financing, insurance and consulting. The probability of success of the business concept and access to financing options are also mapped out. Smartaxxess thus advertises financing without a bank meeting. Founded by Ruth Schöllhammer, Kai Flehmig-Pichlmaier and Mark Tom Pösken in 2019, the startup aims to make business management easier for young medium-sized companies through a digital file.

Incorporating a GmbH through asset contribution now possible online
Since 1 August 2022, incorporating a GmbH has been possible online in principle – but with certain restrictions. For example, a notary appointment was still required for asset contribution incorporation. This is now changing.
