Lawyer and insurance manager Miriam Hook is taking over the management of Insurtech Hub Munich (ITHM) from May. Miriam Hook is succeeding Christian Gnam as managing director, who after nearly five years as managing director of the ITHM has taken over the leadership of the Innovation and Startup Centre for Biotechnology (IZB) in Martinsried near Munich.

The Insurtech Hub Munich (ITHM) enters into a ‘knowledge partnership’ with Deloitte. The partnership aims to make the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for the insurance industry transparent and understandable.

Tobias Wann, the current CEO of Xempus, will hand over company leadership effective November 1st to founder and board member Martin Bockelmann. Together with Malte Dummel, formerly COO and CFO, he will lead the insurtech jointly going forward.

Founder Catherine Leser wants to revolutionize occupational pensions with her 2021-founded startup Penzilla and thus make a societal contribution to closing the pension gap. Before Penzilla, Catherine Leser worked as a management consultant for CFOs and built service organizations for mid-sized companies and large corporations. Munich insurtech startup Xempus announced the successful completion of its Series D funding round of €63.5 million ($70 million) in March. Now additional investors have joined the round.

Munich insurtech Hakuna has successfully closed its seed round and raised 4 million euros. Lead investor is Earlybird Venture Capital, and existing investors Visionaries Club, Discovery Ventures, as well as several business angels such as Klarna founder Victor Jacobsson also participated in the round.
