Isar Pyrolysis converts plastic waste into valuable fuels in a decentralized way
According to a 2017 study, approximately 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste have been generated since the invention of plastics. 79 percent of it is in landfills or directly in the environment – in rivers, on beaches, as part of the notorious garbage patches or as microplastics in the food chain. And every year, around 350 million tons of plastic waste is added, of which only just under 15 percent is recycled. A gigantic problem that the startup Isar Pyrolysis wants to tackle. The Munich company develops a flexibly deployable facility that produces fuel from plastic waste. This way, it not only wants to reduce waste but also supply remote locations with fuel. An interview with the founding team.
