Summ AI: The growth journey of the Munich AI tool for plain language
Our last interview with Summ AI was so long ago that it was time for an update. Summ AI offers an AI-powered tool that automatically translates any text into plain language. (That is, into a defined speech style with simple sentence structure and additional explanations that anyone can understand.) Twaice combines battery expertise with artificial intelligence
Munich-based startup Twaice offers predictive analytics software that optimizes both battery development and operation through an AI-powered platform. Founded in 2018 by Stephan Rohr and Michael Baumann, the startup was supported by prominent investors from the outset. Twaice has since raised over 60 million euros across multiple funding rounds, established offices in Chicago and Paris, and built a global customer base in industry. In 2023, the young company opened a battery laboratory in Munich with Vispiron, an automotive supplier.

Straightlabs creates learning apps and immersive 3D training worlds
Edtech company Straightlabs offers gamified and virtual training worlds. Since its founding in 2015, the startup has already won multiple awards. In the interview, founder and CEO Peter Niermann discusses the benefits of bootstrapping, pivots, and the startup’s challenges. In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Niermann is also active as a professor at various universities and wants to make education more accessible, effective, and relevant for everyone.
