The Weconomy founders competition has crowned ten winning startups for the 2024/2025 cohort. The winning teams include four Munich startups: LoopID, Certhub, Summ AI and Trail.

Our last interview with Summ AI was so long ago that it was time for an update. Summ AI offers an AI-powered tool that automatically translates any text into plain language. (That is, into a defined speech style with simple sentence structure and additional explanations that anyone can understand.) Co-founder Flora Geske speaks in the interview about challenges and learnings and tells how her startup’s success story continues.

Vanessa Theel co-founded Summ AI in 2022 together with Flora Geske and Nicholas Wolf. The AI-based tool translates complex texts into easy language at the click of a button. With the help of the startup, companies can make information quickly, cost-effectively and accessibly available to everyone and thus easily meet regulatory requirements for the accessibility of their communication – particularly with the entry into force of the Accessibility Strengthening Act in 2025. We spoke with Vanessa Theel about her motivation, tips and learnings.

The Munich startup Summ AI is one of two winners of this year’s Smart Country Startup Award. GetStarted, the startup initiative of digital association Bitkom, awards the prize annually as an innovation award for young companies with outstanding solutions for the public sector.

Summ AI secures a seven-figure amount in a pre-seed financing round. With the fresh investment, the Munich startup plans to expand its sales department and further develop its AI-based product portfolio.

The Bavarian Digital Prize recognizes companies and projects that advance the Free State through their digital ideas. This year’s winners include the Munich startup Summ AI.
