What could a biotechnologist, a physiotherapist, and a management consultant accomplish together for good? Well, of course…they become indoor farmers!…with the goal of supplying Munich and the surrounding area with vitamin-rich, flavorful, and above all regionally produced vegetable sprouts, so-called microgreens. That’s how Gernot, Flo, and Thomas started MingaGreens in their own basement in Munich-Moosach in February 2021. The microgreens—over 30 different varieties—were to be organic, and they wanted to generate as little packaging waste as possible. They achieve this through the use of a reusable system for restaurant customers as well as the use of recycled cardboard for retail packaging. The positive feedback from customers gives the MingaGreens guys momentum to make the next step out of the basement and into a new production hall. So it will be exciting to see what comes next from this Munich manufactory.
