About Serlo
Serlo Education is a non-profit educational organization that enables students and learners to study at their own pace and unlock their potential – regardless of their parents’ financial situation. We develop the free learning platform serlo.org, which offers around 18,000 learning materials for school subjects from grade 5 through university level in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, as well as extracurricular topics. Over one million people now use the platform every month to learn and teach. All content is completely free, ad-free, and available under open licenses. We bring together a community of dedicated educators who voluntarily create diverse, high-quality learning materials and make them freely available online. Behind this is the idea of a new way of learning, where schools are appreciative and inspiring learning spaces and students can grow into empathetic, self-determined, and engaged people. Our diverse team of full-time and volunteer editors, project managers, software developers, and designers works with the commitment of an NGO and the agile methods of a tech start-up toward this vision. We orient ourselves by role models from industry and the non-profit sector, and we seek to contribute to the development of shared standards and practices in the non-profit sector.
