About SHQUARED
SHQUARED – Digital platform for parallel use of commercial spaces SHQUARED stands for Shared Square – the shared square meter – and has set itself the task of making our cities more diverse and colorful through efficient and shared space utilization. In recent years, the buzzwords “pop up” and “interim use” have become increasingly common and show us the huge demand for space. Space to realize oneself, conduct business, offer yoga, sell jam, t-shirts, soap, or breakfast. At the same time, we often walk through the streets of our cities and find ourselves facing closed doors and dark shop windows. How can this be? Why are these spaces not being used? This is exactly the dilemma we are now solving with what we call parallel use. With our pilot projects Bananaleaf and Knolle & Kohl, we have shown that this is possible even in the most difficult sector—gastronomy. Countless other constellations are conceivable: salsa classes on weekdays in the nightclub, guitar lessons on Mondays in the hair salon, yoga or children’s painting in the office meeting room on weekends, etc. Parallel use suddenly creates possibilities that were previously unthinkable. For new founders, risks and investments are drastically reduced, enabling more people to take the leap and realize their dreams. Existing operators are relieved through additional rental income. For society, better quality of life is created through greater creativity and diversity. Win-win. It’s as simple as it is brilliant.
