SHQUARED – Digital platform for parallel use of commercial space
SHQUARED stands for Shared Square – the shared square meter – and has set itself the task of making our cities more diverse and colorful through efficient and shared use of space.
In recent years, the buzzwords "pop-up" and "temporary use" have become increasingly common, highlighting the huge demand for space. Space to express one's identity, pursue one's business, offer yoga, sell jam, T-shirts, soap, or breakfast. At the same time, we often walk through the streets of our city and encounter closed doors and dark shop windows. How is this possible? Why are these spaces unused?
We're now creating a solution for precisely this dilemma, called parallel use. With our pilot projects Bananaleaf and Knolle & Kohl, we've shown that this is possible even in the most difficult sector, the restaurant industry. Countless other scenarios are conceivable: salsa classes during the week in a nightclub, guitar lessons on Mondays in a hair salon, yoga or children's art classes in the office meeting room on the weekend, etc.
Parallel use suddenly creates previously unthinkable opportunities. For new entrepreneurs, risks and investments are drastically reduced, giving more people the courage to pursue their potential. Existing operators are relieved of the burden through additional rental income. For society, increased creativity and diversity result in a better quality of life. Win-win.
It's as simple as it is ingenious.
