What do Formula 1 cars, aircraft engines, drones, and range hoods have in common? In all these applications and many more, aerodynamics are optimized and controlled by products from us – Vectoflow. From individual probes to complete systems: Using 3D printing and smart software solutions, we develop custom flow measurement technology that adapts perfectly to its field of application and delivers reliable results even under difficult conditions. Our systems measure inflow angles, pressure, velocities, and temperatures of flows (air, water, gas, oil, etc.). This allows, for example, an engineer at BMW to understand how air flows around the vehicle and optimize it accordingly. With drones or unmanned transport vehicles, the measured data is fed directly into the control system to counteract potential deflection in advance, for instance when wind gusts occur. Currently, we are pursuing aviation certification, where the measured parameters provide important information to the pilot or autopilot. Flow probes and systems from competitors are manufactured from many small parts, making them very fragile and prone to breaking quickly. There are only 3 different probe shapes, which are insufficient for many applications. The probes are too large and obstruct the flow, which negatively affects measurement quality. The software is not user-friendly and difficult to integrate into test bench systems. Vectoflow probes and systems are manufactured using 3D printing. This way, all probes are adapted in shape, material, and size to the respective application, increasing measurement accuracy by up to 45% or often even enabling measurement in the first place. The single-piece design also makes them significantly more robust. Easy-to-use software rounds out the offering. Through specialization in 3D printing, Vectoflow has succeeded in manufacturing the world’s smallest probe (outer diameter 0.9mm) and the most temperature-resistant probe in the world (up to 1800°C). Air data systems for drones available on the market cannot withstand external conditions (weather, etc.) and break easily. The further developed air data system for aircraft does not freeze (unlike competitor products) and prevents catastrophes like the one at Air France or the current Boeing incidents. Vectoflow was founded in mid-2015 by Florian Wehner, Dr. Christian Haigermoser, and Katharina Kreitz, and has convinced over 80 customers worldwide of its quality. Companies such as GE, ABB, Siemens, universities, Tesla, NASA, ESA, SpaceX, BMW, and various Formula 1 teams source their measurement technology from Vectoflow.
