Veriva is the first independent verification platform and critical travel magazine for regenerative hotels.

We combine editorial journalism, a scientifically validated four-dimensional rating standard, and machine-readable data infrastructure — so that properties can do the real regenerative work and become visible on the booking platforms where the next generation of conscious travelers search and book.

The problem: Thousands of independent boutique hotels worldwide are doing extraordinary regenerative work: restoring ecosystems, anchoring local communities, and preserving cultural continuity. Yet they are invisible to travelers and unverifiable on OTA platforms because no accessible, credible standard exists for them. Existing certification systems are too expensive, too bureaucratic, or simply not designed for what regeneration truly means.
Veriva solves this with three interconnected products: an independent editorial magazine that tells honest stories about these places; a Compass rating standard developed with Prof. Willy Legrand and based on the Regenerative Hospitality Canvas of EHL Lausanne; and a JSON-LD data profile for each rated property, compatible with the Travalyst Data Hub and designed to make verified regenerative properties visible on Booking.com, Expedia and Airbnb.
Think Michelin Guide meets GSTC — built for the regenerative era and the regulatory moment that EmpCo is creating.

Business model

Founder Laetitia Hörnler is the founder of Veriva — an independent verification platform and critical travel magazine for regenerative hospitality, launching June 2026.
Before Veriva, Laetitia spent two decades at the intersection of journalism, hospitality, and media. She wrote for GEO and Leben&Erzogen, worked in hotel industry PR, led media sales at Insiderei and Changemaker, and founded Mamis Travel Guide — one of Germany's leading family travel platforms. That career arc gave her something rare: she understands editorial independence, she knows how hotels communicate, and she has seen firsthand how the gap between genuine sustainability practice and credible verification is costing both properties and travelers. Laetitia is supported by Medialab Bayern with a personal coach and is media partner of the Tourism Innovation Summit 2026 and the GDS Forum & Impact Day 2026.
