The digital sector continues to gain momentum. Following the downturn triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the digital index compiled by Bitkom and Ifo is recovering again.

The expected collapse continues to be avoided: the business situation in the digital sector remains stable despite a feared crisis, according to the current Bitkom-Ifo digital index. However, uncertainties for the coming months remain large.

Despite ongoing crisis sentiment, business conditions in the digital industry are improving. Expectations for the coming three months, however, continue to decline, according to the latest Bitkom-Ifo Digital Index.

The Bitkom and Ifo Institute business climate index continues to fall. While the current situation in the digital sector is still comparatively good, expectations for the coming months give cause for concern.

The combination of exploding energy prices, inflation, Russia’s war against Ukraine and unstable global supply chains is also burdening Germany’s digital sector. However, the economic barometer from digital association Bitkom and the Ifo Institute is developing moderately positively.
