Women in Tech: Sara Marquart
Planet A Foods aims to sustainably transform food production. To achieve this, Sara Marquart, together with her brother Maximilian Marquart, developed the world’s first cocoa-free chocolate ChoViva, which uses regional ingredients such as oat and sunflower seeds instead of cocoa, resulting in up to 90 percent lower CO2 emissions compared to conventional chocolate. However, chocolate is just the beginning at Planet A Foods: next, the startup wants to focus on additional ingredients such as a cocoa butter substitute. Sara Marquart completed her PhD in food chemistry at the TU München, then worked as a curator at the German Museum, as a scientist for Atomo Coffee in the USA, and published numerous publications. In 2021, she founded Planet A Foods together with her brother.
