R&D Engineer (m/f/d)

TALOS is a new space startup based in Munich developing and delivering a unique IoT solution to track animals or other assets globally, seamlessly and directly from space, without the need for terrestrial infrastructure.

Our major and most impactful use case is to track wildlife allowing researchers to protect endangered species, detect climate change or the early stages of animal diseases.

The company was founded in 2022 and is now looking at scaling its staff capacity to accommodate further projects. To support our vision, we are currently looking for an  

R&D Engineer (m/f/d)

with knowledge in at least one, but ideally more of the following topics:

• Space Segment
  • Satellite or payload qualification testing,
  • Electrical, mechanical, RF/antenna or thermal design,
  • SDR- or radar applications.

• Ground Segment
  • Development of miniaturized, robust and lightweight electronics for new generation of IoT-tags,
  • Ultra-low power design, wake-up receivers, energy harvesting.

• Software
  • Signal processing and communication technology,
  • FPGA and embedded software design,
  • Data and signal analysis, machine learning, algorithm development.

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree in engineering, physics, computer science or equivalent work experience
• Self-motivated and proactive mindset
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
• Strong English or German language skills in both verbal and written communication
