The Munich SaaS provider Code Gaia is building an integrated sustainability management provider together with the Cologne-based company Planted as House of Gaia Holding. According to their own information, the new group serves more than 630 customers and employs over 60 employees across five locations.

The merger is driven by increasing regulatory requirements for companies. Requirements such as CSRD, IED, PPWR and ESPR are increasing the demand for solutions that combine sustainability management and compliance. Code Gaia and Planted pursue an approach that understands sustainability not only as a regulatory obligation, but also as an economic lever for companies.

The two companies remain operationally active. Markus Adler takes on operational leadership as CEO, Niklas Schönstein is responsible for product strategy. Wilhelm Hammes, co-founder of Planted, will oversee the holding’s acquisition strategy in the future.

Further acquisitions planned

Alongside the merger, House of Gaia launches an acquisition strategy. Over the next 24 months, the group plans to strategically integrate complementary ESG software providers. The solution portfolio will grow continuously without customers having to switch providers.

Markus Adler, CEO of Code Gaia, says:

“Our goal is to make sustainability profitable in mid-market companies – the backbone of our economy. Because it only works when it pays and strengthens the resilience of companies. That is what our joint approach is focused on. We combine AI-powered software with personal consulting – from ESG data collection through reporting in companies and supply chains to concrete climate protection measures.”

Wilhelm Hammes also sees the merger as the foundation for further growth:

“Regulatory requirements are changing at ever faster cycles. With the merger, we are creating a platform that gives companies security and adapts dynamically. The next acquisitions are already in planning. Our goal is a European solution that mid-market companies can rely on in the long term.”

With Planted, Code Gaia is expanding its offering to include concrete environmental protection measures such as regional company forests and support for global climate projects.
