The topic of phone usage is likely to be a persistent pain point for many visitors to the Bits & Pretzels – and beyond. At the latest when the weekly report appears on the screen, many people regularly promise themselves to do better. A solution that could really help is presented by the startup Minimalist Phone, founded in 2022, at this year’s Bits & Pretzels. After installation, the Minimalist app modifies a phone’s user interface so that icons disappear. “When icons are no longer visible, you don’t just mindlessly open apps like Instagram anymore”, explains founder Martin Moravek in conversation with Munich Startup. The app also features additional features designed to make smartphone users’ lives harder in a positive way: usage times for individual apps can be restricted, apps can be blocked for extended periods or only displayed in black and white – which makes image-driven apps like Instagram significantly less attractive, for example. From Bits, the Minimalist Phone founder expects above all that the topic of phone usage will receive more attention – and his startup too, of course. (Photo: Munich Startup)
Mybacs has set itself the goal of revolutionizing the health market around the human microbiome. The company focuses on synbiotic nutritional supplements. Why gut health of all topics? Luca-Sophie Compes from Mybacs explains: “The gut plays a central role in our overall health, whether for our immune system, skin health, digestion, or hormone production”. The Munich startup, founded in 2018 and already able to complete several successful funding rounds, is pleasantly surprised by Bits: “There are a lot of people here who are interested in our product and our company. We mainly want to connect with end consumers, since everyone who is here on-site is also a potential customer of ours.” (Photo: Munich Startup)
Finding, comparing, and ordering automotive spare parts – that’s what Auteon focuses on. The Munich startup was founded in 2019, and the platform as it exists today has been around for two years. Auteon’s target audience is automotive workshops that can use the Munich young company’s product to compare automotive parts from their wholesalers. Bettina Göbel from Auteon explains: “Comparing spare parts is not that easy because dealer portals are very heavily protected and you as a workshop have individual terms. There was no real comparison portal for prices and availability. That’s why we’re doing it now.” This is no simple market, as Göbel emphasizes: “The market is incredibly complex, incredibly difficult, and also a bit outdated in certain places.” What can help? A good network. That’s exactly why Auteon is represented at this year’s Bits. But not only that – investors are also being sought: “We’re planning our Series A next year and are constantly looking for connections, also for strategic partners. We’re always very happy to network in the automotive direction.” (Photo: Munich Startup)
“Our mission is to bring more fairness to recruiting”, says Anonyfy founder Sandra Zemke, summing up her startup’s mission. “And not only that, with anonymous processes we also want to create more visibility for medium-sized businesses and achieve an upgrade of employer branding for all companies”, she continues. The young company has been live since June of this year and is currently working to position itself in the market. Through Anonyfy, companies and talent should be able to get to know each other without prejudice. The Munich startup, which has already raised angel funding, is currently looking for investors – another reason for its trade fair appearance at this year’s Bits & Pretzels. Zemke says: “We’re in the middle of fundraising and always looking for investor contacts. We want to strengthen our investor network, but we’re also meeting many cool partner companies here and have already collected some customer leads.” (Photo: Munich Startup)
The startup June, founded in 2020, has developed a case management and automation platform for all legal and administrative processes for large law firms and legal departments. Among other things, June’s solution automates and structures workflows and uses artificial intelligence to recognize the content of legal correspondence. When asked what the Munich startup expects from the Bits & Pretzels, Axel Gillessen from June explains: “We’re here at the trade fair to make contacts for a Series A, which we plan to do next year. This is our first time at Bits and we’re delighted by the many interested visitors. And the app also makes it very easy to arrange meetings in advance.” (Photo: Munich Startup)
