Ororatech has expanded its series B financing round to a total of 37 million euros. In addition to existing investors like Bayern Kapital, which is participating again via the ScaleUp Fund Bavaria, additional investors are coming on board. These include BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund as lead investor, Rabo Ventures, Edaphon, and the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF). Previously, the company had already raised 25 million euros.
Ororatech develops satellite-based solutions for detecting and assessing wildfire risks. The company uses specially developed multispectral thermal imaging cameras installed on nanosatellites – barely larger than a shoebox. Using artificial intelligence, the so-called Wildfire Intelligence Solution analyzes thermal data, identifies potential fire hotspots, and simulates their further development.
Leading technology from Munich
With currently ten active satellites in Earth orbit, Ororatech already has an extensive data infrastructure. This enables the company to create a digital twin of Earth for wildfires – a dynamic model that combines real-time observations with precise forecasts. Globally, the spacetech protects more than 347 million hectares across six continents with its solution. Contracts exist with government partners in Greece and Canada, among others.
“We are pleased that we were able to convince both new investors and existing investors like Bayern Kapital once again of the potential of our combination of scalable space infrastructure and AI analysis. Our goal is to continue advancing our growth and our position as a leading provider of solutions for wildfire detection and risk assessment based on thermal data for various industries and governments worldwide. With the funds from the expanded series B financing round and the support of our investors, we will succeed in doing so,”
says Martin Langer, CEO and CTO of Ororatech. Monika Steger, managing director of Bayern Kapital, is also convinced:
“Ororatech’s solution has great potential, not only for combating wildfires and thus protecting our planet. For areas such as forestry and agriculture or the insurance industry, Wildfire Intelligence Solution is also highly relevant. Ororatech itself has already achieved significant growth – the company recently deployed an eight-satellite wildfire constellation in orbit, thereby expanding its data base. Additionally, Ororatech was able to sign several contracts with notable partners. That is why Ororatech remains a promising investment for us, one that we want to continue to support in the future.”
Beyond wildfire monitoring, Ororatech is exploring additional application areas. These include monitoring gas flares, mapping urban heat islands, or analyses for the agricultural industry. The current investments are intended to enable both the technological further development and international expansion of the company.
