Abaut has successfully completed its funding round. Bayern Kapital is participating alongside EquityPitcher Ventures, EIT RawMaterials, and existing investor Bauer AG in the technology company specializing in digitalization. The startup develops hardware and software solutions for the construction and raw materials industries – with the goal of making processes on construction sites significantly more efficient and data-driven. The additional funds will be strategically used to expand sales and marketing structures as well as further develop the product portfolio.
“We will use this additional funding to strengthen our team in the sales and marketing area. On the other hand, we will focus on product development and further develop our algorithms so that our customers can achieve even greater efficiency and productivity gains with our solution”,
explains Sebastian Kaluza, founder and CEO of Abaut.
Digital solutions for real construction site challenges
Abaut addresses current challenges in the construction and raw materials industries: from skilled labor shortages to volatile raw material prices to high operating costs. The startup’s solutions are based on manufacturer-independent sensors – such as cameras – which, in combination with artificial intelligence, capture, analyze, and optimize workflows on construction sites.
With systems developed by Abaut, managers should be able to analyze the deployment of construction equipment, optimize their utilization, and shorten transport routes. The CO₂ footprint can also be improved through targeted measures. In the future, the systems are intended to even automatically prepare decisions and provide concrete recommendations for action in real time.
According to its own information, the Munich startup’s solutions are currently in use in 18 countries – including on major infrastructure projects in road, rail, and route expansion. The customer base consists primarily of leading companies in the construction, raw materials, and infrastructure industries.
Scalable technology convinces investors
With its market-ready technology, clear industry focus, and data-driven approach, Abaut also convinced Bayern Kapital. Monika Steger, managing director of Bayern Kapital, comments:
“The construction and raw materials industry is a market with a high demand for practical digitalization solutions to make various processes more efficient, transparent, and thus more cost-effective. The scalable, AI-based solutions of abaut GmbH address exactly this need. In addition, the company has an industry-experienced team with good contacts to potential customers, has recorded continuous revenue growth in recent years, and expects significant growth in the future as well. These factors make abaut GmbH a relevant and promising investment for us.”
