Since June, the doors of Werk1 coliving have been open to its new residents. The residential concept includes 63 modern apartments that offer everything you need to live in the smallest of spaces. The entire new building covers over 10,000 square meters and, in addition to the apartments, includes further offices, event and meeting spaces, a new coworking area, and a café. The central location in Werksviertel-Mitte also offers direct access to the entire Werk1 infrastructure.
At the festive opening on July 20, State Minister and Deputy Minister President Hubert Aiwanger and many representatives of Landeshauptstadt München and Werk1 shareholders also attended. Robert Richter, managing director of Werk1, explained:
“With the expansion to include the coliving concept, Werk1 wants to meet the needs of Munich’s rapidly growing tech startup scene and make the city of Munich even more attractive for the regional and international startup community. In doing so, Werk1 remains true to its mission of being Munich’s most startup-friendly place.”
Coliving: living and working together
Derived from co-working, where freelancers and startups share workspaces, co-living transfers the idea of community into the residential space and is intended to match the lifestyle of millennials. Residents not only share living space, but also interests and spirit. Founders can flexibly rent apartments in the Werk1.4 extension building for one to six months. In addition, residents have access to numerous services: from laundry service to cleaning to WiFi, everything is included, as well as access to Werk1’s coaching and mentoring programs. In addition to fully equipped apartments with private balconies, coliving residents also have access to large communal areas with a spacious kitchen, dining, and living area.
