The digitalization of business cards has now become the focus of numerous companies. In the DACH region alone, companies such as Lemontaps, Mytaag, Wazzl, and OneVcard see themselves as market leaders – as does Spreadly from Munich. Darius Göttert, co-founder of the startup founded in 2022, explains in an interview with Munich Startup the advantages:

“This solves several problems: on one hand, the classic problem that paper business cards are thrown away almost 90 percent of the time before they are even saved in contacts. Then there’s the challenge of how to get contacts into your CRM after a trade show, for example. We solve this by connecting – for instance, by scanning the other person’s Apple or Google Wallet and thus having all contact information directly in your phone. This includes phone numbers and email addresses, but also social media accounts like LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram. You also get information such as office location and even the option to book an appointment. So you have significantly more information about the other person than if you simply exchanged phone numbers.”

Spreadly acquires Clinck entirely

Now Spreadly is acquiring one of its competitors: Clinck from Amsterdam has been on the market since 2013 and is among the first solutions for digital business cards. Since then, the company has reportedly reached over 80,000 users. Following the acquisition, Spreadly will not continue Clinck as a brand and will directly take over the app and users. The purchase was financed from its own resources, and confidentiality was agreed upon regarding the price.

According to its own information, Spreadly has 40,000 users in over 100 countries one year after its founding and is already profitable. As the next step, the startup plans to complete a funding round.
