Two years ago, 150 million euros were raised in a Series E by Scalable Capital. Balderton Capital is now increasing this by 60 million. In addition to the VC, the new growth fund from HV Capital and existing investors also participated. Erik Podzuweit, founder and co-CEO of the Munich fintech, says:
“This funding round is a clear confirmation of our strategy and proves the strength of our business model. A pan-European platform that covers the entire spectrum of investing from A like stocks to Z like interest rates has enormous potential. With the additional funds, we will continue to expand our digital investment platform and grow sustainably.”
Rana Yared, general partner at Balderton, joins the fintech’s board and comments:
“With its holistic and fully digital approach, Scalable Capital gives retail investors across Europe easy access to capital markets to build wealth long-term. This is unique in this form on the market. We are impressed by the team around Erik and Florian, their vision and their achievements so far. We are very much looking forward to supporting them in their upcoming projects.”
Beyond Balderton Capital, the wealth manager and neo-broker is receiving strong support from the new “HV Capital IX Growth” fund. Rainer Märkle, general partner at HV Capital, explains:
“For eight years now, HV Capital has been supporting Scalable Capital. The investment from the ‘HV Capital IX Growth’ fund specifically strengthens Scalable Capital on its path to becoming Europe’s leading digital investment platform and to continue expanding.”
Scalable Capital: Expansion into full-service investment platform
Since 2014, Scalable Capital has given retail investors access to digital investments. Starting as a digital wealth management service, the fintech expanded its platform in 2020 to include a full-service brokerage offering. Today, broker customers from Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands can invest in ETFs, stocks, funds, bonds, cryptocurrencies, and derivatives. More than two-thirds of the funds are invested in ETFs.
