The new fund is more than twice the size of its predecessor, Picus Venture Fund I, launched in 2021. It will primarily be used to support the most promising companies in the Picus Capital portfolio worldwide. Picus Capital will continue to invest in early-stage companies. The new fund allows the financier but now also to support the most promising portfolio companies in important growth phases.
Investors in Picus Venture Fund II include leading investment firm M&G, which is investing through the private markets platform Titanbay from its £5 billion Catalyst fund, which focuses on innovative solutions. Other partners include European family offices, including industry leaders and prominent tech companies, some of which are already involved in Picus Venture Fund I.
Raphael Mukomilow, Partner and Head of Growth at Picus Capital, says:
"We are delighted to announce this strong first close for our Venture Fund II, as it demonstrates investors' confidence in our ability to deliver rewarding returns. We look forward to investing alongside impressive new and existing partners going forward. Our strategic collaboration with investors such as UK-based M&G Catalyst underscores our commitment to supporting purpose-driven technology companies with a strong focus on sustainability—an area of significant importance within the Picus Venture Fund's strategy."
Picus Capital: “Often the first investor on board”
Robin Godenrath, Founding Partner and Managing Director, adds:
"Our investment approach, which involves extensive entrepreneurial sparring with founding teams, means that we are often the first investor on board. With Picus Venture Fund II, we are now positioned to continue supporting entrepreneurs in the crucial, later stages of their business. Since Picus Capital was founded in 2015, we have built a portfolio of over 200 exciting companies. We now have the opportunity to leverage our information advantage over the market to invest specifically in the most successful companies in our portfolio. We expect this to result in an excellent risk-return profile for the fund."
