The European Lifestars Awards honour outstanding companies and executives in the fields of biotechnology, healthcare, medical technology and related sectors. The awards ceremony takes place annually as part of the LSX Festival in London and aims to recognise particularly innovative companies and their achievements in various categories.

The awards are given to companies that have achieved significant breakthroughs, attracted transformative investments or made remarkable contributions to the development of new technologies and therapies. Not only young startups are recognised, but also established companies that have attracted attention through successful funding rounds, strategic partnerships or exceptional progress in research and development.

The award categories include, among others, the best funding rounds, investments, corporate strategies and innovation approaches in areas such as biotechnology, medical technology, health technology and digital health.

The Munich winning teams:

  • Scirhom came third in the “Series A Finance Raise of the Year” category. In July, the startup secured a Series A funding round of 63 million euros (70 million US dollars) for its antibody therapy against autoimmune diseases.
  • Catalym won first prize in the “Late-Stage Venture Round – Series C” category. In mid-2024, the company completed a Series D funding round of 138 million euros (150 million US dollars). The new capital is to finance Phase 2b development of Visugromab for treating various cancer types. The drug candidate Visugromab is intended to neutralise a specific protein that tumours use to protect themselves from the body’s immune system. This should make tumours accessible to the immune system again, which should strengthen immune defence.
  • Tubulis not only received first prize for the “Series B Funding Round of the Year” but also the overall prize as “Biotech of the Year”. The Munich-based biotech startup from Martinsried recently completed Series B funding of 128 million euros and signed a strategic licence agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb for the development of differentiated antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).
