Agile Robots has acquired the hardware including all safety-relevant components and hardware-specific software rights of the ‘Yu’ cobot from Voraus Robotik. The Munich-based company, which raised 186 million euros in a Series C round just under a year ago, aims to advance product development further and secure its supply chain in order to establish cost-efficient industrial production in Germany.
‘Yu’ cobots on the market in 2023
Voraus Robotik deepens its software focus and licenses its integrated robot control software and user interface for the ‘Yu’. For the ‘Yu’, the Munich and Hanover-based companies will continue to work together to further develop the robot control according to high market requirements and provide necessary customer support.
The ‘Yu’ is designed as a universally applicable cobot with a maximum payload of seven kilograms. According to the companies, the first safety-certified ‘Yu’ cobots are expected to roll off the production line at Agile Robots’s plant in Kaufbeuren, Bavaria in early 2023 – initially for the European market, then worldwide.
