Ampeers Energy aims to enable the real estate industry to supply their buildings with energy that is both climate-neutral and profitable. Using its software solutions and the targeted integration of hardware and service partners, the Fraunhofer Society spin-off achieves a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 90 percent according to its own statements. The service offering covers the entire process from analyzing optimization potential, implementation support, to profitable operation and tenant electricity billing.
Cooperation for a joint one-stop shop
As recently announced, the company Sistems together with the Austrian Federal Real Estate Company (BIG) are investing a double-digit million amount in the Munich startup. The joint investment is intended to form the basis for a one-stop shop: Interdisciplinary teams will in future relieve property owners of planning, implementation, operation, and billing of all processes involved in sustainable building energy supply – with the goal of reducing the CO2 emissions of buildings by over 90 percent. The cooperation combines the software solutions of the Fraunhofer spin-off Ampeers Energy with the services and system technology components of Sistems, such as PV systems, heat pumps, and charging infrastructure.
The investment is intended to support the next growth steps and will flow into, among other things, team expansion. At the same time, it is to finance the optimization and further development of the existing offering. Currently, a CO2 monitoring system is in preparation that will make it possible to prioritize decarbonization measures, conduct benchmark analyses, and implement ESG-compliant CO2 reporting.
“The real estate industry has not reduced its CO2 emissions over the past decade”
Karsten Schmidt, CEO and founder of Ampeers Energy, comments:
“The real estate industry has not reduced its CO2 emissions over the past decade. At the same time, we know that it must increase the pace of renovation five-fold to achieve its climate goals. With the one-stop shop that the partnership with Sistems and their investment make possible, we address precisely these critical hurdles. We offer a fully integrated concept, avoiding complicated service provider management and error-prone interfaces. Ultimately, we create an offering that combines climate neutrality of real estate with a profitable business model.”
Modular toolkit for property owners
Through the strategic partnership, property owners can access a modular toolkit. The comprehensive partner network will provide all necessary steps for climate-neutral building energy supply in new construction and existing buildings from a single source, starting with potential analysis through intelligent software for comprehensive and sustainable electricity and heating supply. It also encompasses concrete implementation on-site through to optimized, software-based operation of renewable energy system technology and tenant electricity billing. At the same time, the one-stop shop will provide a high degree of scalability through serial modernization concepts that can be implemented across entire building portfolios.
