Munich Startup: What does your startup do? What problem do you solve?

Apodienste: Apodienste offers deeply integrated software for scaled customer engagement with efficient status management of medication analyses as well as a home office pharmacist marketplace. This allows pharmacies to reduce analysis time to one-fifth and integrate the service profitably into their daily operations. Customers thus conduct hundreds to thousands of analyses annually.

No integrated solution available so far

Munich Startup: But that already exists!

Apodienste: There are individual solutions for parts of the process, but nothing integrated. You constantly have to switch tools and lose important information. Our product even creates home office workplaces for the pharmacy, and pharmacists have been waiting for that for a long time!

Munich Startup: What’s your founding story?

Apodienste: Emad and Rick met at a party and discovered they were operating in the same market. Emad had already developed pharmacy software for Dutch on-site pharmacies, and Rick was working as a freelancer for an online pharmacy in Germany at the time. After a few meetings with pharmacists, the idea was born and we had our first prototype.

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Apodienste: We’re bootstrapping the startup from the ground up and therefore still have to take on additional jobs on the side, which isn’t always easy. We also set ourselves the goal of delivering our own booth and a finished product with a demo account for the largest pharmacy trade fair. That was quite a sprint, which we really managed brilliantly!

Goal: significant improvements in medication therapy safety

Munich Startup: Where do you want to be in one year, and where in five years?

Apodienste: In one year, we want to achieve that home care pharmacies actively use our new product, Apodienste HomeCare. In five years, we aspire to see significant improvements in medication therapy safety. Through the numerous medication analyses we enable, we hope for a significant reduction in hospital admissions for nursing home residents, which would greatly improve the quality of care and patient well-being.

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Apodienste: Extremely well, especially since we’ve been working in Werksviertel. The infrastructure and countless programs here are really the biggest bonus!

Munich Startup: Risk or security?

Apodienste: In this case, security. The pharmacy market is highly regulated. Even before we founded the company, we had already validated our concepts with lawyers and data protection specialists.
