Atmen has raised five million euros in a seed financing round. The round was led by Berlin-based VC Project A. Existing investors such as Revent and Vireo Ventures participated again. Experienced angel investors also joined, including Axel Stepken, former CEO of TÜV Süd, Martina Merz, former chairman of ThyssenKrupp, and serial founder Christian Vollmann, who invested in Trivago and SumUp, among others. This brings the startup’s total financing to 6.3 million euros.
Atmen develops an IoT and SaaS platform that enables manufacturers of energy-intensive goods such as hydrogen, steel, or fertilizers to certify their products more efficiently. The platform captures real-time data directly from industrial processes and automates sustainability certification. Companies can create digital product passports, quantify emissions, and obtain government-recognized certificates.
“We simplify and scale product certification, transforming a traditional bottleneck into a competitive advantage. Given Europe’s limited access to fossil fuels, the transition to renewable energy requires stronger systems to verify clean energy products – and that’s exactly what we’re building,”
explains Flore de Durfort, CEO and co-founder of Atmen.
Atmen focuses on growth in team and product scope
With the financing amount, the startup plans to expand its currently eleven-person team. The certification of additional energy-intensive goods – beyond hydrogen and e-fuels – is also a focus. Additionally, Atmen wants to strengthen connections with regulatory bodies and certification organizations to make it easier for companies to comply with new sustainability requirements.
Mila Cramer, principal at investor Project A, comments:
“In a world where industrial competitiveness depends on traceable, low-carbon supply chains, Atmen is building the digital backbone that transforms complex production inputs into compliant, market- and export-ready products.”
The platform replaces previously manual, paper-based processes with automated data collection and continuous tracking. It connects producers, traders, auditors, and certification labels in one system. This positions Atmen as technological infrastructure for sustainable industrial certification – a topic that is becoming increasingly important given geopolitical tensions and growing regulatory requirements.
Atmen was founded in January 2023 by Flore de Durfort, Quentin Cangelosi, and Erika Degoute – initially under the name Point Twelve. Shortly after its founding, the team won the Munich Startup Special Prize at the founders’ fair Bits & Pretzels. Today, the platform is in use at industrial sites in nine countries and cooperates with companies such as Lhyfe and TÜV Nord.
