Munich Startup: What problem does Beglaubigt.de solve?
Alexander Sporenberg, co-founder and CEO of Beglaubigt.de: The traditional process of notarial services is characterized by long waiting times and high organizational effort. Private individuals must appear in person for many matters, which is time-consuming and inflexible. These traditional workflows are inefficient and prevent many people from easily and quickly accessing legal services. With Beglaubigt.de, we address these problems head-on and make notarial services more accessible and faster for everyone. Of course, we rely on the highest standards in terms of legal security and quality.
Beglaubigt.de: “Through automation and AI, we optimize the entire notarial services process”
Munich Startup: But that already exists!
Alexander Sporenberg: The legal industry is one of the last sectors where the potential of technology is far from exhausted – and that’s exactly where we come in to redefine the standard. Through automation and AI, we optimize the entire notarial services process to provide fast solutions. One reason why the legal industry lags behind in innovation is the high regulatory requirements. As a legal tech company, we focus on the highest legal standards to meet these requirements.
Munich Startup: What is your founding story?
Alexander Sporenberg: The idea for Beglaubigt.de arose from the conviction that the legal industry urgently needs digital transformation. Felix Gerlach (my co-founder and CTO) previously founded Passbase Inc., which also specializes in digital identity solutions. This makes Felix an expert in the field of legal tech and compliance tech.
It was similar for me. As part of the founding team at Razor Group, I worked daily with notaries and lawyers. I experienced firsthand the challenges of cross-border legal services and certification, and increasingly felt that there was still considerable potential for optimization here that could definitely be tapped.
High requirements for implementing technological innovations
Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Alexander Sporenberg: One of the biggest challenges lies in the heavily regulated legal industry, which places high demands on the implementation of technological innovations. To ensure that our solutions always comply with legal requirements, it was crucial to both understand the legal framework precisely and to be flexible in responding to its requirements. To meet this standard, we have built a highly qualified legal team of ten employees and developed our platform to meet the highest legal standards. In this way, we combine technological innovation with legal security and create a trustworthy offering for our customers.
Munich Startup: Where do you want to stand in one year, where in five years?
Alexander Sporenberg: Our goal is to become the standard for digital notarial services and expand our service to the most important European regions in the coming year. We not only want to serve private individuals (B2C), but also develop solutions for businesses (B2B). For this reason, we launched Platus in November 2024, with headquarters in San Francisco and Munich. Platus offers legal infrastructure as no-code and API (=Application Programming Interface) – from notarization, drafting, signing, redlining to certified translations. Platus serves customers in Europe and the USA. As part of Y Combinator, we are aiming for rapid global scaling with Platus within the next five years.
Munich is the perfect base
Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?
Alexander Sporenberg: We deliberately chose Munich as our founding location and relocated from Berlin to Munich at the beginning of last year. The city is characterized by its strong economy, excellent infrastructure, and a dynamic network of investors, startups, and established companies. With the LTC (Legal Tech Colab), Munich, particularly in the legal tech sector, offers a strong ecosystem and is thus a perfect base for our company to advance digitalization in the conservative legal field.
Munich Startup: Risk or security?
Alexander Sporenberg: For us, both are in focus: innovation and security. We dare to transform a traditional market and introduce new technologies. At the same time, we know that in our market, security is essential. Without the highest standards and absolute legal security, our product would not be future-proof. Our solutions are reliable, legally secure, and enjoy the trust of our customers. Our goal is to provide innovative legal services that are not only groundbreaking, but also completely dependable. We move forward boldly while keeping security in sight.
