With the Weconomy initiative, the Wissensfabrik – Unternehmen für Deutschland e. V. in cooperation with UnternehmerTUM and Handelsblatt aims to promote forward-thinking business ideas. The goal of the competition is to turn promising founders into successful entrepreneurs. When selecting the winning startups, the jury places special emphasis on one aspect:
“Greater diversity in the German startup ecosystem is important to us – that’s why we also pay attention to this in our selection. In doing so, we not only promote diversity but also tap into significant entrepreneurial potential for the German economy”,
says Bettine Schmitz, jury member and CEO at Auxxo Fund Management.
This year, ten founders impressed the Weconomy jury, including three Munich companies: Deepeye Medical, Deepscenario and Pionierkraft. As part of their award, the winning teams gain access to a network of experts and executives up to top management of the German economy and receive one year of support in implementing and further developing their business ideas. They receive individual assistance on various topics such as market entry, product development, and organizational and business development.
About the Munich winning teams
Deepeye Medical: Many cases of blindness result from treatable eye diseases. The medtech startup Deepeye has developed a decision-support algorithm for ophthalmologists. This allows doctors to offer their patients, who suffer from, for example, the widespread age-related macular degeneration (AMD), individualized therapy.
Deepscenario: Deepscenario’s mission is to significantly accelerate the training and testing of autonomous systems. The AI startup, founded in 2021, enables its technology to capture the complexity of the real world in a scalable way and to extract traffic scenarios precisely and automatically. Its customers in the automotive industry can thus train and test algorithms for self-driving cars many times faster.
Pionierkraft: Pionierkraft aims to realize the construction of photovoltaic systems with its innovative hardware and digital services. The Munich startup thus offers a profitable alternative to today’s tenant electricity concepts. As a one-stop shop, Pionierkraft enables a comprehensive worry-free package without administrative effort and integrates PV, heating and mobility applications for optimal decentralized energy use.
