Devanthro is a Munich-based robotics and AI company that develops Robodies – robotic avatars for the elderly care market. By combining robotics, AI, AR and 5G, they become humanoid robotic avatars that enable their operators to teleport their senses, actions and presence anywhere in the world. In this way, Robodies become multipliers for care workers, enabling them to work together with local helpers to provide protection and continuous support while maintaining personal contact with people in the community.

The startup emerged from the Roboy project at the TU München and also counts Charité Berlin, University of Oxford and Diakonie among its partners. An early prototype is also part of the permanent exhibition at the German Museum in Munich.

Now co-founder Alona Kharchenko has been recognized by Women TechEU. The program is aimed at European startups in cutting-edge technology that were founded or co-founded by women and hold a leadership position. At regular intervals, they can apply and hope for a grant of €75,000 and a customized business development program that includes mentoring, coaching and targeted training. In total, Women TechEU plans to support 160 beneficiaries by the end of 2025.

Devanthro prevailed against a total of 820 applicants from 38 countries. Most applications came from Turkey, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany and France. Applications were received from over 15 industries. More than half of the applying startups fell into the category “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (including Big Data)”. The next most popular sectors were “Biotechnology, Life Sciences and Agritech” and “Sustainable Energy, Clean Technologies and Greentech”. In total, 40 winners were selected.

The next opportunity to apply for Women TechEU will open soon. The program provides further information on its website.
