Founded in 2021, medtech company Sedivention aims to simplify the treatment of obesity with a novel cryo-catheter that ablates the gastric branches of the vagus nerve within minutes. The intervention can be performed on an outpatient basis, similar to a gastroscopy – as a one-time, minimally invasive procedure. The new, innovative, and cost-effective method is also expected to have positive effects on obesity-related conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
Driving product development forward with fresh capital
An approach that has already convinced others, including the Munich Business Plan Competition. And now the HTGF as well: the early-stage investor is pumping €800,000 into the young company. A prototype of the cryo-catheter has already been developed and successfully tested for safety and efficacy. With the raised capital, Sedivention will continue to advance product development.
Ute Nollert, founder of Sedivention, explains:
“Obesity is not a result of lack of discipline, but an independent disease. We help people lose weight. Without surgery, without implants, without lifelong medication.”
And Jan Engels, investment manager at HTGF, adds:
“We are convinced by Sedivention’s idea and approach to novel therapy and look forward to accompanying the company through its next steps.”
