Since 2017, Ecog has helped charging station manufacturers develop their solutions cost-effectively and scale profitably. With its reference designs and charging controllers, the startup enables major manufacturers to quickly and easily bring their products to market. According to its own information, the company holds a market share of over 15 percent in Europe and is also active in India. Ecog’s customers include Siemens and Icharging. In 2022, the company secured an investment of six million euros to accelerate its expansion into the US. It also received an additional grant of 1.5 million dollars from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to open its US headquarters in Detroit.
Josev is an operating system for charging stations from British company Switch. With Ecog’s acquisition, a partnership with Switch also comes into effect, through which full operational responsibility for the Josev team and its products will transfer to Ecog. Josev’s customer portfolio, including ABB E-mobility, Alfen, and Zaptec, will also be managed by Ecog in the future. Additionally, the Munich company is integrating Switch’s cloud-based platform, which makes it easier for operators to manage their EV charging networks.
Ecog: “This collaboration positions us as pioneers in the transition to sustainable transportation”
Jörg Heuer, CEO of Ecog, says:
“The synergy between Switch EV and Ecog is based on both leadership teams’ decades of experience in electric vehicle charging. This collaboration not only expands our capabilities by extending our portfolio to include AC and commercial chargers, but also positions us as pioneers in the transition to sustainable transportation.”
Marc Mültin, founder and CEO of Switch, emphasizes:
“The partnership with Ecog enables us to expand our influence and reach, and to realize the vision of a fully integrated charging solution (from the electric vehicle through the charger to the backend) based on open standards – for all charger manufacturers and grid operators. Together, we are setting new standards for the most robust, scalable, and user-friendly charging experience, driven by innovation and a shared commitment to quality and sustainability.”
With the new partnership, Ecog and Switch are also preparing for upcoming changes in the charging infrastructure market. Following Tesla’s recent reduction of its infrastructure business, a market gap has opened up for infrastructure companies to meet growing demand.
