Munich Startup: What does Familymind AI do? What problem are you solving?

Rosaria Di Donna, co-founder and CEO of Familymind AI: Familymind AI is the first platform that supports families with an AI-powered chatbot to organize their daily lives, promote mental health, and create fair task distribution in family routines. The problem: In modern families, mental load often rests heavily on just a few family members. This leads to stress, overwhelm, and often conflict. Our “1-to-family” chatbot promotes fair distribution of responsibilities, facilitates communication, and helps strengthen family bonds.

Familymind AI goes one step further

Munich Startup: But doesn’t that already exist?

Rosaria Di Donna: There are indeed task management apps and calendar-sharing tools. Familymind AI goes one step further: our chatbot interacts multidimensionally with all family members to flexibly adapt to each family’s needs and dynamics. This allows us to offer an individualized, AI-powered solution that understands the unique challenges modern families face and actively reduces mental burden.

Munich Startup: What’s your founding story?

Rosaria Di Donna: The idea came to life in 2021 when I became a mother myself and experienced the challenge of balancing professional obligations with family life. While I initially tried to structure daily life using to-do apps, ChatGPT, and WhatsApp groups, I quickly realized we needed a holistic, intelligent solution. Since June 2024, I’ve been working together with Mousa, Ariane, Khaled, and Tavishi, our first employee, and an expanded team of tech and family health experts on Familymind AI to provide families with exactly this kind of support. Our team was also part of the renowned Digital Product School (DPS, Batch #22) by UnternehmerTUM in Munich through December 2024 and is part of the nationwide Social Impact Republic. This allowed us to further develop the product with top experts and an expanded team while preparing for market entry. Since December 2024, we’ve had our first users on the platform and the learning curve couldn’t be steeper.

Key priority for Familymind AI: ensuring fairness and inclusion

Munich Startup: What were your biggest challenges so far?

Rosaria Di Donna: Our biggest challenges lie in technical development, especially in creating an AI that truly supports families in their daily lives while ensuring fairness and inclusion. It’s complex to avoid AI biases that could lead to unfair suggestions—for example in task distribution or family communication. Our goal is to create a solution that considers and supports all family members equally.

Additionally, protecting privacy and handling sensitive family information is a critical issue. Since we work with personal data, we place special emphasis on maintaining high data protection standards to preserve families’ trust in our solution.

B2B partnerships to be expanded

Munich Startup: How’s business going?

Rosaria Di Donna: We’re in full build mode with Familymind AI and have already seen strong interest in the early development phase. We’re currently in the beta testing phase, and family feedback is exceeding our expectations. Our waiting list currently includes more than 250 families eager for the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) release. Since starting our social media presence in October 2024, we’ve seen average monthly growth of over 150 percent in followers and are reaching more than 4,000 people in our target audience.

In parallel, initial B2B partnerships have started. We’re in conversations with potential corporate partners interested in integrating Familymind AI as part of their work-life balance offerings. Our goal is to secure three corporate partnerships by year-end. This way, we want to reach even more families and expand our reach.

Munich Startup: Where do you want to be in one year, and where in five years?

Rosaria di Donna: In one year, we want to have successfully established Familymind AI in the market and integrated feedback from the beta phase to ensure optimal user experience. In five years, we aim to take a leading role in the family-tech space. We want to expand our platform with certified health offerings to support families holistically in their daily lives.

Familymind AI benefits from Munich as a strong startup hub

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Rosaria Di Donna: Munich is a fantastic location that impresses with strong networks, high innovation power, and top-tier support offerings for startups. We especially benefit from programs like the UnternehmerTUM Founders Hub, the Digital Product School, the cross-cutting Social Impact Republic, and our connection to Technische Universität München (TUM), where we’re supported through EXIST funding. Collaboration with the Technical University of Munich and our EXIST mentor Prof. Dr. Pretschner provides us with valuable scientific expertise that flows directly into our product development. This comprehensive support gives our team the best conditions to successfully develop and establish Familymind AI. We feel very well taken care of.

Munich Startup: Hidden champion or shooting star?

Rosaria Di Donna: We see ourselves as a shooting star! Already in the hot product development phase, we’re experiencing enormous interest from families. Inquiries, messages, and feedback show us that Familymind AI is receiving tremendous support. Strengthening families, promoting mental health, and supporting fairness in everyday life—these are the drivers propelling our growth in the long term and will make us successful. And with the best team in the world.
