Flix is continuing its global expansion and launching its long-distance bus services in Australia. The company is now present in 45 countries across five continents. In Australia, the buses initially connect Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney on one of the country’s busiest routes. Building on this, the route network is to be expanded to include additional cities over the coming months.

At the same time, Flix is growing in Latin America: bus operations will start in Peru this winter. In Mexico, Flix has more than doubled its offering since launching in May 2025. In both Latin America and Australia, the company employs its asset-light business model, which is based on collaboration with local bus operators.

André Schwämmlein, CEO and co-founder of Flix, comments:

“Flixbus is already a global success today. In the coming years, we will continue to work on unlocking the enormous market potential in Latin America, Australia, and India. We also have ambitious, global growth plans for 2026.”

Flix wants to transform Australia’s travel market

With Australia, the travel tech company is opening up a new growth market with a distinctive feature. Due to the great distances between cities, flying is an extremely popular and efficient means of transport. Flix aims to offer an attractive alternative with its services and sustainably change how people travel.

“Our ambition must always be to offer a genuine alternative to domestic flights and private cars through affordable and sustainable mobility. We have already achieved this in many other countries and aim to do the same in down under”,

says Schwämmlein.
