Munich Startup: What does Gallerytalk.io do? What problem do you solve?

Gallerytalk.io: Gallerytalk.io is a digital platform that offers artists their own interactive gallery. Many artists struggle with visibility, high exhibition costs, and lack of direct sales opportunities. Classical galleries are often difficult to access, and social media is not enough to present art appropriately.

We solve this problem by providing artists with an immersive, individually customizable, and easily accessible environment where they can independently present their work, connect with visitors and collectors, and organize digital and physical events.

What sets Gallerytalk.io apart from other platforms?

Munich Startup: But that already exists!

Gallerytalk.io: Digital galleries are not new, but they are often either technically complicated, impersonal, or too closely tied to the art market. We focus on an intuitive, visually appealing platform that artists can design themselves – similar to a curated exhibition space. In addition, we offer community features, benefits such as curation, and enable digital events that go beyond a simple online presence.

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Gallerytalk.io: Gallerytalk.io was born from the conviction that digital spaces for artists can be far more than simple online portfolios. We have personally experienced how difficult it is to gain visibility in the art world when you are not represented in classical galleries. Additionally, there is a lack of social momentum. Art is best communicated when embedded in a social, interactive experience. So we built a platform that combines digital presentation with community and direct interaction – and thus creates a new form of art communication.

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Gallerytalk.io: A major challenge was designing digital art presentation in a way that appeals to both artists and viewers. The technical implementation – such as optimizing for different devices or integrating interactive features – was complex. Additionally, building an active community is crucial. Here, targeted marketing and networking strategies help us.

Growth and future plans

Munich Startup: How is business going?

Gallerytalk.io: Gallerytalk.io is growing continuously: Since the launch in October 2024, over 1,000 artists have registered. More than 10,000 artworks have been uploaded, and we count several hundred visitors. Our first physical event, an exhibition “From Virtual to Reality” with five of our artists in Munich in January 2025, was a great success with over 90 visitors. We believe this combination of digital presence and real events is a concept that creates new access to the art market and has the potential to expand the market itself.

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Gallerytalk.io: Munich has a vibrant art and startup scene, but the combination of both worlds still has room for development. Thanks to supporters like Kreativ München and programs like the Wavelab Incubator, we have received valuable support and networking opportunities. We see great potential in connecting art-tech startups in Munich more closely with established art institutions and companies.

Strategy: outsourcing vs. in-house

Munich Startup: Outsource or do it yourself?

Gallerytalk.io: We use a mix: We develop the core, the platform itself, in-house. This way, we maintain full control over the product. We outsource certain marketing and PR measures selectively to benefit from expert knowledge. For us, it’s crucial that everything that directly affects users – the gallery experience – comes from first-hand.
